@epic.io Yes, that's right. He was not alone in doing that, there were also other friends but he was the most famous. From 1990s until now, he continues to struggle in developing cheap internet for everyone. One of his famous works is the development of "people's VoIP" that based on SIP (session initiation protocol) rather than based on H.323 protocol by ITU. Because of that, he was once sued by Telkom Indonesia because of the fucking law that didn't allow people to build their own VoIP service.

In an event today I got an opportunity to take some photos with Onno W. Purbo, Indonesian information technology expert and one of the pioneers of internet in Indonesia. He is also known for his efforts to promote Linux as a free and open-source software.
